We were looking for a Grinder restaurant while we were in town and this shop did not disappoint. The staff was friendly and shared some stories while making our food. They had local newspaper posts that showed how local they were in business, 90+ years. We were able to share a large Italian and it was plenty for the two of us. The Roast Beef and Capocollo were tasty as well from what my family was telling me. High quality food for a reasonable price.

Found this place on a random trip I made to the east coast almost 2 years ago. Honestly best grinder I've had. Recently moved to Connecticut and decided to give it a go again and it didn't disappoint.

Owners, Wendy and Anthony are still making the bread fresh and supplying a lot of other local restaurants with their bread... The grinders are amazing. Sometimes there's a line, but you'll know why once you eat one of their grinders.

Old school perfection. Step into a place feeding the neighborhood for over 90 years. Discovered D'elia's thanks to Yelp on a trip to the Norwich area. Dude who runs the place is the great-grandson of the man who started it up right before the Great Depression and carries on a proud tradition with very good food at a decent price. First time got a fresh tasting roast beast grinder on that fresh bread and the misses doesnt eat much bread so she got some sausage links to go (quart). She chirped about how they couldve fit another sausage in each container instead of the sauce. I said "pipe down.... thats a damn good red gravy worth 9 bucks a quart itself". They cut the deli meats thicker so yeah you might get 2 slices of meat but its the same portion amount just not ribbon-sliced and fluffed up to make it look bigger. Me personally I ask the deli dude at any shop to cut it thick so it keeps longer in the fridge. Old school. A jar of that Rao sauce costs $8 at the local market. Better off with the 93 year old recipe from here. Pro tip: add a pint of this gravy to a lb of lean ground beast to make next level sloppy joe mix. Living 80 miles away I may never return, but next time Im in Norwich during the day could be years from now I would seek D'elia's out and return there for a good lunch from solid people. Support neighborhood places like this that put the franchise sub shops to shame.
